Udimet 188 is a cobalt-based alloy renowned for its exceptional high-temperature strength and excellent oxidation resistance, with a maximum strength of up to 2000°F (10^93℃). The addition of high chromium combined with trace amounts of lanthanum creates an exceptionally tough and protective scale structure. The alloy demonstrates superior resistance to sulfidation and metallurgical stability, maintaining good ductility even after prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Its excellent machinability and weldability make it particularly suitable for gas turbine applications, including burners, flame retainers, liners, and transition pipes.
The density of the alloy is ρ=9.14g/cm³.
