Nimonic PK33 is a vacuum treated nickel-based alloy designed to provide a sheet material with improved ductility and high creep strength in welded assemblies to replace Nimonic80A and 90 alloys.
Nimonic PK33 alloy has high thermal shock and thermal fatigue resistance, good weldability, so it is suitable for combustion chamber, nozzle tube and reheat system of high performance gas turbine engines.
Although the alloy is developed as a sheet material, related forgings and annular components are also required, and the use of consumable electrode vacuum arc melting process to produce forging billets, bars and sections is now the standard practice. The welding technology of this alloy is similar to that commonly used in other nickel-based aging hardened alloys.
The density of the alloy is ρ=8.21g/cm³.
