Inconel 718 alloy has the following characteristics:
1. Easy to process
2. At 700℃, it has high tensile strength, fatigue strength, creep resistance and fracture strength
3. High oxidation resistance at 1000℃
4. Stable chemical properties at low temperatures
5. Good welding properties
Metallographic structure of Inconel 718:
The Inconel 718 alloy has an austenitic structure and excellent mechanical properties due to the precipitation hardened α” phase. The δ phase formed at the grain boundary during heat treatment gives it the best plasticity.
Corrosion resistance of Inconel 718:
Inconel 718 alloy has excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting in both high and low temperature environments. 718 alloy is particularly good at oxidation resistance at high temperatures.
Inconel 718 applications include:
Because of its high temperature strength, excellent corrosion resistance and easy machinability at 700℃,Inconel 718 can be widely used in a variety of high requirements.
1. Steam turbine
2. Liquid-fueled rockets
3. Low temperature engineering
4. Acidic environment
5. Nuclear engineering.
The density of the Inconel 718 alloy is ρ=8.24g/cm³.
