Inconel690 is a high-nickel chromium alloy with excellent resistance to various corrosive water media and high-temperature environments. In addition to its corrosion resistance, Alloy 690 also has high strength, good metallurgical stability, and favorable manufacturing characteristics.
The chromium content gives the alloy excellent resistance to chemical oxidation and high temperature oxidation gases. The high nickel content makes it resistant to stress corrosion cracking in chlorine-containing environments, as well as resistant to sodium hydroxide solution.
Inconel690 is suitable for a variety of applications involving nitric acid or nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid solutions. For example, exhaust gas reheaters used in nitric acid production, as well as heating coils and tanks for nitric acid/hydrofluoric acid solutions used in stainless steel pickling and nuclear fuel reprocessing.
The resistance of this alloy to sulfur-containing gases makes it an attractive material for gasification units, burners and pipelines for the treatment of sulfuric acid, petrochemical processing furnaces, recoverers, incinerators and glass melting equipment for the treatment of radioactive waste.
Alloy 690 exhibits low corrosion rate and excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking in various types of high-temperature water. Therefore, alloy 690 is widely used in nuclear power generation as steam generator tubes, partitions, tube sheets and hardware.
The density of the alloy is ρ=8.19g/cm³.
