Incoloy 926 alloy has the following characteristics:
1.It has a very high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in halide media and acidic media containing H2S
- In practical applications, it can effectively resist chloride ion stress corrosion cracking
- It has excellent corrosion resistance to various types of corrosion in normal oxidizing and reducing environments
- The mechanical properties have been significantly improved compared with Cronifer 1925LC-Alloy 904L
- Compared with the alloy of the same series with a nickel content of 18%, its metallurgical stability has been significantly improved
- Possessing relevant certifications applied in pressure vessel manufacturing (VdTUV-196~400℃ and ASME certification)
Metallographic structure of Incoloy 926:
926 has a face-centered cubic lattice structure.
Corrosion resistance of Incoloy 926:
926 is an austenitic stainless steel with a similar chemical composition to alloy 904L, but its content has been increased to around 0.2%, and the molybdenum content is approximately 6.5%. The increase in nitrogen and molybdenum content significantly enhances the resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in halide media. Meanwhile, nickel and nitrogen not only ensure the stability of the metallographic structure but also reduce the tendency of interphase precipitation during hot working or welding compared to alloys with lower nickel-ammonia content. The excellent local corrosion resistance, combined with a 25% nickel content, makes alloy 926 particularly outstanding in corrosion resistance in gaseous ion media. Tests in various FGD systems of limestone slurry with a gasification concentration of 10,000-70,000 PPM, a PH value of 5-6, and a working temperature of 50-68℃ have shown that after a test period of 1-2 years, alloy 926 has basically not experienced pitting corrosion or cresting corrosion. Alloy 926 also exhibits excellent corrosion resistance in other chemical media, as well as in high-temperature and high-concentration media, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, acidic gases, seawater, salts and organic acids. Alloy 926 is the selected material for Chapter 6 “Specification for Hazardous Materials Storage and Transport Containers” in the BAM Catalogue of the German National Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) located in Berlin. In addition, only when the material is in the correct metallurgical state and kept clean can it have the best corrosion resistance.
