The chemical composition of W.Nr.1.4862(Incoloy DS)

Incoloy DS, originally developed for braid wire furnace conveyor belts, is now widely used in various heat treatment applications. Its strength and high-temperature corrosion resistance make it suitable for light cross-sections.
Alloys used in high-temperature processes must be capable of withstanding exposure to high-temperature combustion gases and operating environments for a considerable period of time without losing their effective cross-sections due to corrosion.
Incoloy DS alloy, like the heat-resistant alloys of other special metal companies, forms a tightly adhered oxide film to protect its surface from the corrosion process. It also has the ability to resist “green rust”, which may occur in nickel-chromium alloys when the atmosphere changes between reduction and oxidation, and in some cases, when the reducing atmosphere has carburizing properties. Under these conditions, chromium carbides can form at the grain boundaries and preferentially.
The density of this alloy is ρ=7.86g/cm³.
