Nimonic 81 alloy is a forged nickel alloy that is hardened by controlling the addition of titanium and aluminum, aiming to provide better high-temperature corrosion resistance and good high-temperature strength. Due to its high chromium content, it has excellent heat corrosion resistance. The high-temperature strength characteristics are similar to those of Nimonic 80A alloy. The practices of smelting, hot working, cold working and mechanical processing are also similar to those of Nimonic 80A alloy.
The applications include components of gas turbines, exhaust valves of piston engines, and heat exchange equipment attacked by deposits produced by the combustion of imppure fuels, especially alkali metal sulfates and chlorides.
The density of this alloy is ρ=8.06g/cm³.
