Udimet 188 is a cobalt-based alloy with excellent high-temperature strength and good oxidation resistance, up to 2000°F(1093 ° C). High chromium combined with a small amount of lanthanum will produce extremely tough and protective scales. This alloy also features excellent resistance to sulfidation and superior metallurgical stability, and exhibits good ductility after long-term exposure to high temperatures. The excellent manufacturability and weldability of this alloy make it very useful in gas turbine applications, such as burners, flame holders, linings and transition pipes.
The density of this alloy is ρ=9.14g/cm³.
