Inconel686 is a single-phase austenitic iron-nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy that demonstrates exceptional corrosion resistance in harsh environments. Its high nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo) content provide excellent corrosion resistance under reducing conditions, while the high chromium (Cr) content offers protection against oxidative media. Molybdenum (Mo) and tungsten (W) help resist localized corrosion such as pitting. Iron (Fe) is strictly controlled to enhance performance. Low carbon (C) helps minimize grain boundary precipitation, maintaining corrosion resistance in the heat-affected zone of welded joints.
Inconel686 is used to resist corrosive media in chemical processing, pollution control, pulp and paper manufacturing, and waste management applications.
The density of the alloy is ρ=8.73g/cm³.
