Inconel G-3 is a nickel-chromium-iron alloy containing molybdenum and copper. Controlling certain minor elements enhances resistance to corrosion in the heat-affected zone (HAZ) and improves weldability. The alloy demonstrates excellent corrosion resistance to oxidative chemicals and atmospheres. Its nickel and copper content also makes it resistant to reducing chemicals. Nickel additionally provides superior stress corrosion cracking resistance in chlorine-containing environments. High molybdenum content ensures exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Low carbon content helps prevent sensitization while enabling intergranular corrosion resistance.
Inconel G-3 is specifically designed for handling reducing acids such as phosphoric and sulfuric acids. It is widely used in flue gas desulfurization systems (scrubbers), particularly in quenchers, baffles, and outlet pipe areas. The alloy also serves as an effective material for air pollution control systems in chemical and pulp & paper industries. It stands out as a preferred choice for equipment like evaporators, heat exchangers, tank linings, and other components in phosphate manufacturing plants. This alloy is extensively utilized in oil well casing (OCTG) applications in hot, acidic environments.
The density of the alloy is ρ=8.14g/cm³.
