Nimonic 81 alloy is a forged nickel-based alloy that achieves enhanced high-temperature corrosion resistance and superior strength through controlled titanium and aluminum additions. Its high chromium content provides exceptional heat corrosion resistance. The alloy exhibits comparable high-temperature strength characteristics to Nimonic 80A. Its processing methods—including smelting, hot working, cold working, and mechanical machining—also align closely with those of Nimonic 80A. Applications include gas turbine components, piston engine exhaust valves and heat exchange equipment vulnerable to deposits (particularly alkali metal sulfates and chlorides) from combustion of impure fuels.
The density of the alloy is ρ=8.06g/cm³.
